About CoonAmor

It all began over 30 years ago. With an introduction to the breed while doing a postgraduate degree on the East Coast. After falling in love with Maine Coons, the desire to help preserve, promote and improve the breed led to forming CoonAmor.

All of my breeding cats are named after songs. A playlist of favourites. The breeds humour, conversational skills, intelligence and companionship all contribute a profound connection to our place in this world. I can’t imagine life without them.

CoonAmor breeding cats are selected with structural soundness, correct conformation, and health as the foundation for winning type. All CoonAmor breeding cats are screened for healthy hearts.  Hips are clear of FHD.  And all are DNA negative for HCM, SMA and PKDef. Cats are true carnivores and thrive when fed appropriately. CoonAmor has been feeding a balanced raw diet for many years.  The resulting health benefits are cumulative over the generations.

Everything is inclusive within an integrated approach to breeding – part science, part art and total devotion to the best interests of the cats.
